If the adjective changes based on gender (masculine -o, feminine -a, take the feminine form of the adjective and add -mente to it:

If the adjective does not change with gender, add -mente to it:
  • natural
  • naturalmente

  • FRENCH
Many french adverbs are formed by adding -ment to a feminine adjective.

    nouveau/nouvelle (the adj. new)
    nouvellement

Il est rapide. He is rapid.
Il court rapidement. He runs rapidly.

    GERMAN
In German, words ending with -lich often can be used both as adjectives and adverbs.

    He is friendly (adj).

Er handelt freundlich. He acts friendly (adv).

However, these adjective/adverb words don't require -lich, as is shown in the example below.

    He is fast.

    Er läuft schnell.
    He runs fast.
