Adjectives
Adjectives modify nouns.
- the big cat
- the yellow cat
- the brave cat
English creates adjectives from past participles:
- a past participle: The door was painted
- an adjective: The painted door
English places the adjective before the noun. Other languages may place the
adjective after the noun.
This may seem awkward at first, but after you adjust, you may like the format
because you learn what the subject is (noun) and then you discover a
secondary characteristic (adjective).
