NOUN GENDERS
GERMAN
Noun genders can be masculine, feminine or neuter. For examples, we can use "woman" for feminine and "man" for masculine, but what should be use for neuter?
The word book is neuter, das buch. In a discussion at work, we were
talking about how we had all these rules of conduct that mask our genders. So we decided, humorously, that when you come to work, and you follow all the rules in the book, to be profession, that you are neither a man or a woman, but a book. There was just a little sarcasm in all this, because our company has many rules.
YOu must memorize the gender of every noun because this determine which articles, adjectives and pronouns that you will associate with the noun.
