Magellan - Simultaneous Evolution of Language and Friendship
Es la época de nuestros ancestros primitivos. No hay mucha
comida, y siempre tenemos hambre, así que nosotros vagamos
para encontrar más comida. Sabemos que hay peligro por todas
partes, así que usamos nuestros instintos para tratar de
evitarlo. Debido a que tenemos los mismos instintos, viajamos
por las mismas rutas (a lo largo de una sierra, por ejemplo) y
hacemos caminos.
It is the time of our primitive ancestors. There is not much
food, and we are always hungry, so we roam to find more food.
We know there is danger everywhere, so we use our instincts to
try to avoid it. Because we have the same instincts, we travel
the same routes (along a high ridge, for example) and we make
trails.
Luego seguimos los caminos.
Then we follow the trails.
Un día un humano sigue a otro. El primero no está hambriento, y se siente contento y feliz. Él no aleja al otro. Ellos bajan por el camino, el seguidor a unos pocos pasos detrás del que
sigue. Repentinamente el seguidor chilla un sonido, y el
primero observa, y ve a una serpiente venenosa y la evita. La
serpiente se aleja arrastrándose.
One day one human follows another. The first is not hungry, and
feels content and happy. He does not drive the other away. They
walk down the trail, the follower a few steps behind him who
he follows. Suddenly the follower cries a sound, and the
first looks, and sees a poisonous snakes, and avoids it. The
snake slithers away.
El primero siente miedo, y luego admiración mientras se da
cuenta que esta vivo.
The first feels fear, and then wonder as he realizes he is still
alive.
Entonces él observa al primero, el humano que gritó, y
asocia el sonido con la serpiente. Entonces él se da
cuenta de el humano quien lo protegió con el sonido, y él
asocia al otro con la preservación de su vida.
Then he looks at the second, the human
who cried out, and he associates the sound with the snake. Then
he realizes that the human who protected him with the sound,
and he associates the other with the preservation of his life.
La otra persona es ahora significante para él.
This other person is now meaningful to him.
Luego se le ocurre a él que si la otra persona es importante
para él, él puede ser importante a esta otra persona.
Then it occurs to him that if the other person is important to
him, he can be important to this other person.
Y este es el amanecer del lenguaje y la amistad.
And this is the dawn of language of friendship.
