Había un gesto de estoicismo en la cara del
capitán Deckard. Marisa se dió cuenta de ello.
Captain Deckard's face was stoic. Marisa looked at her.
"Capitán, sé a ciencia cierta que fui la primera persona
en llegar aquí y yo no lo hicé."
"Captain, I know for a fact I was the first person to come
here and I didn't do it."
- Marisa, no creo que tú lo escribieras.
"Marisa, I don't think that you wrote it."
"Gracias capitán" Marisa se quedó silenciosa,
pensativa. "Si la historia se diera a conocer a los medios de
comunicación, sería de lo único de que se
hablaría. Habría un debate acerca de su
autenticidad. Después discutirían si era creible.
Se supone que éste es el descubrimiento del milenio para
la Humanidad. No quiero que se convierta en algo feo."
"Thank you, Captain." Marisa was silent, thinking. "If the
story was given to the news media, that would be all that they
would talk about. There would be a debate as to the
authenticity. After that,the debate would focus on our
credibility. This is supposed to be the discovery of the
millenium for humanity. I don't want it to become something ugly."
"Marisa, es ésta la única palabra que
encontraste?"
"Marisa, is this the only word you found?"
"Sí."
"Yes."
"No hagamos caso. Simplemente esperemos a ver si vuelve a
aparecer. Si tienen algún significado, y por cierto no
tengo ni la menor idea de cual puede ser, no tardaremos en
verlo...bueno, eso creo."
"Let's ignore it. Let's just wait and see if it appears again.
If it has meaning of some kind, and I have no idea what that
meaning might be,then we will see it again--I think."
"--Estoy de acuerdo con Usted, capitán. "
"I agree with you, captain."
Y así, durante aquel día, el descubrimiento mas
intrigante e inexplicable quedó, ¿cómo lo
podriamos decir?... escondido debajo de la alfombra.
And so on that day, the most intriguing, most inexplicable
find, was, how shall we say, "swept under the carpet."
