Inmaculada. Todas las cosas al interior de la nave espacial
sobre Ciudad de Panamá eran perfectas.
Immaculate. Everything inside the spacecraft over Panama
City was perfect.
No era difícil entrar a la nave. Cientos de equipos recorrieron
cada metro cubico de espacio y no encontraron formas de vida.
Encontraron pinturas en la pared y estatuas de animales que
ellos nunca habían visto.
It was not difficult to enter the ship. Hundreds of teams went
over every cubic meter of space and found no life forms. They
found paintings on the wall, and statues of animals that they
had never seen.
Encontraron un cuarto de maquinas. Docenas de expertos
examinaron los controles.
Eventualmente tocaron unos pocos, y encontraron que podían
maniobrar la nave espacial lentamente, y a una velocidad que
requería bastantes horas para abandonar el Sistema Solar. Pero
por motivo de seguridad, ellos querían poner algún espacio
entre el nuevo hallazgo y La Tierra antes de intentar acelerar
la nave a mayores velocidades.
They found an engine room. Dozens of experts examined the
controls. Eventually they touched a few, and they found they
could maneuver the spaceship slowly, and at a speed that
required several hours to leave the Solar System. But for the
sake of safety, they wanted to put some space between the new
find and Earth before trying to accelerate the ship to faster
speeds.
Encontraron un botón que pensaron haría viajar mas rápido a la
nave. Así que lo oprimieron. La nave no se movió, pero una
serie de bonotes más pequeños de colores contiguos empezaron a
centellear y no se detendrían hasta que ellos oprimieran uno
de los pequeños botones coloreados. Oprimieron el botón mas
grande otra vez, y una luz en el tope de la consola centelleo,
pero nada sucedió.
They found one button that they thought would make the ship
travel faster. So they pushed it. The ship didn't move, but a
series of smaller colored buttons next to it started flashing
and wouldn't stop until they pushed one of the small colored
buttons. They pushed the bigger button again, and a light at
the top of the consul flashed, but nothing happened.
"Eso esta muy mal." dijo Jennifer. "Creí que podríamos lograr
alguna velocidad de aquella."
That's too bad," Jennifer said. I thought we would get some
speed from that one."
"Hey," Marisa exclamó. "Mira por la ventana."
"Hey," Marisa called out. Look out the window."
"Miraron por la ventana y vieron que el patrón de
estrellas en el cielo era diferente.
They looked and saw the pattern of stars in the
sky was different.
"Marisa, ves algunas constelaciones familiares? Yo no."
"Marisa, do you see any familiar constellations? I don't."
"Tampoco yo. Debemos haber viajado bastante lejos."
"Neither do I. We must have traveled quite a distance."
Una luz relampagueó en el centro del cuarto, y una mujer se
materializó. Ella parecía humana, y vestía a un vestido de
satín azul marino con recorte de oro. "Están ustedes
perdidas?" Su sonrisa era maligna.
A light flashed in the center of the room, and a woman
materialized. She looked human, and wore a navy blue
satin dress with gold trim. "Are you lost?" Her smile was
devilish.
